Australian cheerleaders told to cover up

Sunday, April 16, 2006

Australian cheerleaders have been told today to cover up their midriffs under calls by Gymnastics Australia, as they believe it encourages girls to be self-conscious.

Nerine Cooper, head of Gymnastics Australia, told the Sunday Telegraph, “We don’t want girls to feel under pressure to lose weight because of uniforms.”

Lisa Ince, head of Sydney Professional Dancers, disagreed. “It’s ridiculous really, if the thinking is that a midriff is offensive, then every dance school and athletics club would face the same restrictions,” she said.

The ban will affect about 150 teams registered with Gymnastics Australia.

Woman killed on amusement park ride in New York

Sunday, July 1, 2007

A young woman was killed Friday night after an accident occurred on a gyrating ride at the Playland amusement park in Rye, New York in the United States. The woman, Gabriela Garin, was a worker at the amusement park, and had worked there for the past seven years.

The accident occurred near the end of Garin’s shift; as she was loading riders onto the ride. The ride’s new operator, unaware of Garin’s presence, started the ride while Garin was still on it. The new operator then noticed Garin, and shut the ride down in 20 seconds, but Garin had already been ejected from the ride and killed, according to a park spokesperson.

The ride is an attraction that spins people around in two-seat cars, inside a darkened tent to flashing lights and music.

This incident is not the first in the ride’s history. In 2004, a seven-year-old from Connecticut managed to free herself from the ride’s restraining bars, and climb onto the front edge of her seat. She fell soon after the ride started. A safety precaution was put in place after this incident, however, the spokesperson acknowledged that it was not followed when Garin was killed.

The company which owns the ride shut it down, along with two other rides it owns at the park.

This is the fourth fatality in the park’s history. The park features more than 50 rides, a pool, and a beach. It attracts more than 1 million visitors annually.

UK house prices have fallen 10.5% this year, says Nationwide Building Society

Thursday, August 28, 2008

After dropping 1.9% in July, house prices in the United Kingdom are now falling at the fastest rate since 1990, according to Nationwide Building Society.

The average price of a home has dropped by £20,000 down to £164,654, losing 10.5% of its value in 2008. Property values fell by 1.9% in the past month, and 1.5% in July. In another study, it was revealed that house prices have been steadily falling since October last year.

Nationwide’s chief economist, Fionnuala Earley said that activities in the housing market had recently been “very subdued”, although there are signs of increased interests in home sales, possibly due to the appeal of lower house prices.

The Bank of England stated there has been an increase in the number of people taking out a fixed rate mortgage as opposed to a variable rate loan. Further research by Nationwide has concluded that mortgage approvals also fell by 65% last month.

Malware from mass SQL injections confirmed by security experts

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Nearly 20,000 websites have been attacked by unknown malicious computer users using a technique known as an SQL injection. The attackers have inserted code to install malware onto visitors’ computers. The code exploits a newly-discovered weakness in Adobe Flash Player, a very common web-browser plugin. The attacks prompted an investigation by the Taiwanese information security industry into the source of these attacks.

An SQL injection is a common method employed by malicious users to attack and deface websites, arising from website mistakes in checking user input. Attackers take advantage of these weaknesses to inject information of their choosing into the website. For example, in June of 2007, Microsoft UK found its webpage changed to a picture of the Saudi Arabia flag, an attack which was carried out using an SQL injection.

According to SecurityFocus, this most recent series of attacks stems from a vulnerability in versions 9.0.115.0 and 9.0.124.0 of Flash Player. It allows attackers to load any code they wish onto a computer running these versions of Flash.

As the vulnerability in Flash is newly discovered, Adobe has not yet released a newer version which fixes the problem. For the time being, computer security experts recommend that internet users with one of the unprotected versions of Flash disable the plug-in on Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer to prevent malicious users from gaining control over their computers.

The most recent version of the Flash Player, version 9.0.124.0, does not appear to be vulnerable to this exploit.

Is It A Small Male Organ Or A Skewed Perspective?}

Submitted by: J Dugan

Way up at the top of the list of things that can make a guy feel insecure is being in possession of a small male organ. (But it is important to remember that there are men with a small male organ who are secure and confident enough to accept this fact without it bothering them.) Yet in some cases a man may believe he has a small member when in fact thats not really the case. This moves beyond issues associated with manhood care and requires a man to truly make sure his perspective on this matter is not skewed in a damaging way.

Male organ size

First, its probably a good idea to try to define what a small male organ is in the first place. To do that, we first need to determine the average member size for a grown man.

Unfortunately, as with so many things related to the male organ, thats somewhat easier said than done mainly because theres not always agreement on that matter. For quite a few years, it was generally accepted that the average length for a tumescent member was approximately six inches.

However, not all studies have agreed with that assessment. The most recent large scale study, conducted by Kings College London and reported on in 2015, synthesized the data from more than 20 studies that looked at the tumescent manhood length of more than 15,000 men. That study determined the average tumescent member length is actually 5.17 inches, which in the scheme of things is significantly smaller than the supposed standard of six inches.

In terms of functionality, many scientists would say that a small male organ would be under four inches in length when hard. That is not to say that men with members smaller than four inches are incapable of satisfying their partners, an assumption which many men have disproved. It merely means that in comparison with the norm, below four inches would seem to be officially small.

Perspective

But in reality, many men with a manhood that measures longer than four inches look at their member and think, I have a small male organ. This is not just true of men whose organ is perhaps slightly above the four inch mark but of men who are solidly in line with the average 5.17 inches or even with six or more inches.

In other words, for many men, smallness is not associated with actual length but with a skewed perspective of how long their member is. They may feel their organ doesnt satisfy their partner and the reason for it must be due to its size. Or they may be incapable of perceiving that their manhood is not small; even when a valid measurement proves this point, emotional or psychological factors keep them from seeing their member as being of adequate size.

Some people believe this is happening more and more and that it may be traced back to the easy availability of online adult entertainment. Men are frequently exposed to pictures and videos of men with abnormally large members, which subconsciously makes the viewer feel that his own manhood is inadequately sized.

Men whose perspective causes them to see their normally-sized member as being too small may benefit from exercises which help them to learn to adapt their views to reality. Sometimes working with a professional with cognitive behavior training can be helpful, especially if this skewed perspective negatively impacts the persons sensual health.

Whether a man possesses a small male organ or not, or has a perspective that affects his sensual wellbeing, he needs to keep his equipment healthy. Using a first rate manhood health crme (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) with L-arginine can help maintain that health. L-arginine is an amino acid that aids the process whereby blood is more easily able to flow to the manhood during excitation. The crme should also include acetyl L carnitine, a neuroprotective ingredient which helps in cases where rough handling has desensitized the member. A man who takes care of his male organ will reap the benefits of that care.

Australia’s Old Parliament House becomes heritage listed

Wednesday, June 21, 2006

Australian Prime Minister John Howard announced on Tuesday that Old Parliament House in Canberra has been heritage listed. It is the 31st entry on the National Heritage List.

The listing acknowledges the role the building has in shaping Australia’s culture and protects it from being modified in any way which could affect its historic value.

Old Parliament House served as the home of Australia’s parliament from 1927 until 1988, when it was relocated to the present parliament house. From 1901-1927, parliament met in Melbourne in the Victorian Parliament House (the state parliament was relocated for 26 years). Before being known as Old Parliament House, the building was known as Provisional Parliament House – as it was intended to be used for 50 years before a permanent building could be built.

In the 61 years the building was used as the seat of parliament, the government changed only seven times, and several new political parties were formed (the Liberals, Anti-Communist Labor Party, and the Australian Democrats).

Mr Howard said the building played an important part in Australia’s political history. “Old Parliament House will always be an important part of our political history with its rich collection of original furniture, art and memorabilia helping to illustrate the story of Australia’s political customs and functions,” he said.

According to Mr Howard, the National Heritage List lists sites which have helped shape the country. “The National Heritage List contains places that have played an important role in the development of our nation, such as Captain Cook’s landing place in New South Wales, Port Arthur in Tasmania and the Australian War Memorial in Canberra,” said the Prime Minister.

The building currently houses Australia’s National Portrait Gallery, and serves as a venue for receptions and exhbitions.
