Finding Quality Discount Bikes

Cycling to work or school has become an attractive option as people look for more economical ways to make the trip. Using a bike to commute has a number of benefits however those that do it regularly know that unless the commute is less than a few blocks, it is important to use a bicycle that will stand up to this regular use. That with the economy the way it is causes people to look for discount bikes as they are looking for a quality commuter bike.

Bikes are not cheap these days especially when you have to forego the less expensive models in order to find the quality that will stand up to the rigors of daily use. Quality discount bikes are not found in your local discount retail stores and you ve got to know that the bikes in these stores will not stand up long to riding miles to work each day. While a quality bike might initially be more expensive you will save on the repairs and replacement parts to keep your bike going over the course of a few months.

There are a number of ways to find bikes being sold at a discount. A couple of the tricks are knowing where to look and how to negotiate a deal. You can even get some great deals for a local dealer if you know what you are doing.

Retailers are in the business to make money and we all know that we just don t want them to make it all on our purchase. In actual fact a retailer is looking to find a point of perfect balance in their pricing. That balance is where consumers recognize the price as fair, the retailer can make some money and the demand for the product remains consistent. If a price is too high, demand will go down, therefore fewer units will sell and sometimes the company would have been better off to make less money per unit and sell more.

What I m saying is lower prices can make the demand higher, stimulating profits on volume, rather than on each individual item. This is the tactic used by big bulk and discount retailers. This is a lot harder to do for the little local bike retailer but never the less this strategy is used by some of them typically in the spring or fall when they are looking to sell off last year s models.

Searching online is another place to find discount bikes. It is also a great place to check out the different brands and read all about their different attributes. While you re doing that you can also be looking to see if there are any on sale. You might also try contacting these online vendors to see if they have any bikes being sold at a discount that aren t presently listed on their website. They may have some that have just gone off sale or are about to come up on discount that they would be willing to sell you for their discount price.

Buying discount bikes is a great way to save money and get a quality bike a t the same time. Typically there is nothing wrong with these bikes the retailer whether in town or on line are just trying to stimulate sales by doing more volume.
